Be Yourself at University

At the beginning of university, I was very shy. Instead of going out and meeting new people. I would spend my evening face-timing, my friends, from home. On the third day of being in this new city, I finally decided to go on a night out with a girl I had met around the university campus. She wanted to do a pres with a couple of her other friends and I was very nervous and excited to meet more people and finally live the university dream that I had made up in my head. I got ready in my accommodation for the night out and while I was getting ready I remembered my friend from home, Jeffery's, advice. He would always say the remedy to fight nerves is two shots of vodka before you go out. I'm definitely not the biggest alcohol drinker as I could never handle the taste but I followed his words of wisdom. I was starting to feel more comfortable and less nervous as I made my way to my new friend's accommodation. Once I was there with her and her friends, everyone started taki...

Making Friends at University

All the youtube videos and articles on university always mention how university is so much fun but they never really mention how depressing university can get. All because of how lonely university can be. In my case, I decided to go to a university that was 2 hours away from home and where no one from my sixth form went to so I felt very lonely during the beginning of uni. I was always scared about messaging people about how lonely I was feeling because I didn't want there pity. I think that's why no one mentions the loneliness of university life in all the youtube videos and articles- they don't want pity. I'm in my second term of university and I have a great group of friends, but it wasn't easy. This blog post is for the people that are going through their lonely period at uni as I will be telling you exactly how to make the right friends at uni. me and some of my cheer squad (OCT2019) Joining a group/club-  Everyone is looking to make a new friend in a c...

Being an old soul with film // HUJI app

Hello,  people that read my blog! In the time I've been absent from blogging, sometimes that I've really been obsessed with is the 80/90s. I've been listening to the Now and Then movie playlist every day recently. Not to mention watching YouTube 80s fashion lookbooks all half term! Something that I've been really liking is the photography app HUJI. HUJI makes everyday selfies look like you took them on one of those expensive film cameras. I'm literally in LOVE with the app and if you're loving 80s/90s trends - you will definitely love the app too. (not sponsored btw, I just love the app). BELOW I've included my favourite photos I've taken. (P.S. my underwear is in the background.) love,  Arabelle Akinfe insta~ arabelleakinfe twitter~ arabelleakinfex pinterest~ arabelleakinfe

NEW YEAR 2018 | MY GOALS

Okay um, where did 2017 go? It seems like just a few months ago I was going crazy about prom and my GCSEs. I literally laugh at myself when I think about how long it took me to find my perfect prom dress and how insane I was about my grades. 2017 has been an amazing year me wise but next year I need to focus on other things which might help me become a better person. There are so many things I didn't do that I wish I did so bad, take blogging for example. I'm so ashamed that I haven't posted anything in so long and extremely sorry! But, there's never any point dwelling on the bad things in life and what you could have done instead of what you did do. Time to focus on the future. These are my 2018 goals that intend on following. Hopefully, this post will give a little inside into what exactly you want your goals to be this year. ENJOY! Camera: iPhone 6 | Edited: Snapseed, VSCO Cam 1. Make more YouTube videos YouTube is something I love to watch. I'm pret...

how to: feel beautiful and confident

GET THIS! You know who's beautiful? Read the first word in the last sentence. I saw that on a twitter comment and thought it was a mixture of the cutest and cringeist thing in the world. Kinda what you'll use to describe me in a way. Anyway today's post is a google search I found myself searching in Google today. Some of the techniques I found worked I guess but I decided to give you guys my take out on feeling beautiful! Enjoy! 1) BEING HEALTHY I'm not gonna tell you to eat healthy, workout, and get your daily 8 hours of sleep because I don't do any of those myself. It's literally 11pm at night as I type this and I have to wake up at 6am in the morning for school and the only time I do exercise is when I have to run for the train. But, doing those things will help. For me, being healthy is basically feeling health. AKA when my skin is clear and when I pick out a slamming outfit for school. If you get what I mean... 2) LOOKING OUT THE BRIGHT SIDE Yeah, ...
